Cricket 22 is one of the most complete cricket simulations available, and once you get a feel for its rhythms, it becomes genuinely rewarding to play. Here is what you need to know to get the most out of it.

The batting system in Cricket 22 rewards patience above all else. When you first face a bowler, resist the urge to swing at everything. Watch the ball leave the hand and give yourself a moment to read the line and length before committing. The timing bar at the bottom of the screen is your best friend — hitting the green zone consistently is more important than choosing the flashiest shot.

For pace bowling, play straight early in your innings. Drive through the covers when the ball is full and outside off stump, and leave anything on a length that is angled away. Against spin, use your feet. Coming down the track and hitting with the spin can turn a tight over into a boundary-filled one, but misjudge the flight and you will be stumped before you know it.

The shot selection wheel opens up nicely once you build confidence. The cut shot, pull shot, and flick off the pads all feel natural once your timing is sharp. Do not ignore the running between the wickets either — quick singles are how you rotate the strike and keep pressure off yourself.

Bowling is where Cricket 22 really shines. Every delivery type has a purpose, and learning when to use each one separates good players from great ones.

With seam bowling, use the crease. Bowling from wide of the crease changes the angle and can draw an edge from a right-hander who expects the ball to swing away. Mix up your pace — a well-disguised slower ball after two or three deliveries at full pace will catch even experienced batters off guard.

Spin bowling requires reading the pitch conditions. A dry pitch will turn significantly more, so use your googly or doosra sparingly and only when you have lulled the batter into a false sense of security. Toss the ball up, invite the drive, and then watch the ball grip and turn past the outside edge.

Never neglect your field placement. Setting a slip cordon for an in-form seam bowler on a green pitch can feel like overkill — until a thick edge finds one of them in the third over. Against tailenders, bring the field in and target the stumps rather than chasing edges.

In T20 mode, everything is faster and more chaotic. Accept that you will give away runs and focus on taking wickets in clusters. In career mode and Test matches, think in sessions rather than overs. Wearing down a good batter over ten overs of disciplined bowling is deeply satisfying when the wicket finally comes.
