Silverfall is an action role-playing game developed by Monte Cristo and released for PC in 2007. Set in the fantasy kingdom of Nelwë, the game revolves around a major conflict between the forces of Nature and Technology. Players must develop their hero, recruit companions, complete quests, and fight the mysterious Order of Nothingness.The game combines hack-and-slash combat, character customization, exploration, magic, loot, and an extensive skill system. Players have considerable freedom when deciding how their character develops and which side of the Nature-versus-Technology conflict to support.

Silverfall features real-time action RPG combat with a mouse-focused control system. Players can move around large environments, attack enemies, collect items, cast spells, and complete quests while progressing through the story.

Character creation allows players to choose from four races: Human, Elf, Goblin, and Troll. Appearance options include features such as face, skin, hair, and gender.One of the game’s main strengths is its flexible character-development system. Instead of forcing players into a fixed class, Silverfall provides more than 130 skills and spells covering different combat, magic, and utility options. Players earn skill and attribute points as they level up and can shape their hero around their preferred playstyle.

The Nature and Technology alignment system adds another layer of progression. Players can support either side through quests and decisions, affecting available abilities, relationships, and aspects of the world. Nature-oriented development can provide abilities connected to the natural world, while technological progression offers more mechanical alternatives.Combat includes melee weapons, ranged attacks, and magical abilities. Players can develop specialized builds or experiment with different combinations of skills and equipment.Loot is an important part of progression. Throughout the adventure, players can acquire weapons, armor, rings, necklaces, and other equipment to improve their hero’s combat effectiveness.Companions can also join the player’s journey. Different companions have their own backgrounds, abilities, quests, and relationships with the protagonist. Players can build a team and use companions to complement their character’s strengths.

Exploration takes place across a large fantasy world containing distinctive locations. Players can travel from the floating technological city of Cloudworks to volcanic environments such as Blazis while completing main quests and optional activities.The game also supports multiplayer, with cooperative and PvP options for groups of up to eight players through LAN or Internet play.
