Winning requires speed, precision, and perfect timing as every decision can dramatically change the outcome of the race.

Split/Second is played from a third-person perspective and focuses on high-speed arcade racing combined with interactive environmental destruction. Players compete across a variety of unique tracks built around airports, power plants, cities, docks, industrial facilities, construction sites, and mountain highways.

The game’s defining feature is the Power Play system. By drifting around corners, drafting behind opponents, performing jumps, and driving skillfully, players earn Power Meter energy. This energy can then be used to trigger spectacular environmental events that completely transform the race.Power Plays range from exploding fuel trucks and collapsing bridges to crashing helicopters, derailing trains, toppling radio towers, and even causing passenger airplanes to crash across the racetrack. These massive cinematic events can eliminate opponents, create new shortcuts, or completely alter the layout of the course, forcing every driver to quickly adapt.

Players can also activate smaller Power Plays that trigger localized hazards such as exploding pipelines, falling cranes, collapsing buildings, or rolling cargo containers. Using these strategically allows players to block rivals, force crashes, or create opportunities to overtake the competition.The game features several exciting race modes, including Race, Elimination, Air Revenge, Survival, Detonator, and Air Strike. Each mode introduces unique objectives and challenges that keep gameplay fresh throughout the career.

Career Mode allows players to progress through multiple television seasons by earning points, unlocking new vehicles, and competing in increasingly difficult events. As players advance, they gain access to faster cars with improved acceleration, handling, and top speed.
