Total War: ATTILA is a grand strategy and real-time tactical warfare game developed by Creative Assembly and published by SEGA. Set during the turbulent final years of the Roman Empire, the game challenges players to survive an age of political instability, economic collapse, famine, and devastating invasions.The campaign begins in 395 AD, as the Roman world becomes increasingly divided and powerful barbarian armies move across Europe and Asia. Total War: ATTILA combines turn-based grand strategy with large-scale real-time battles. On the campaign map, players manage territories, armies, settlements, diplomacy, research, economy, and population while attempting to survive the changing political landscape.Players can choose from numerous factions representing the Roman Empire, barbarian kingdoms, nomadic peoples, and other cultures. Each faction has different military units, technologies, economic systems, and strategic objectives.

The Roman factions face particularly difficult challenges. The Western Roman Empire controls a massive territory but suffers from political instability, financial pressure, public disorder, and threats along multiple borders. Players must decide whether to defend every province or concentrate resources on more important regions.

Barbarian and nomadic factions offer a different style of play. Instead of relying entirely on permanent settlements, some factions can migrate across the map, establish new territories, raid enemy lands, and search for regions where their people can prosper.

Real-time battles are one of the game’s biggest attractions. Players command infantry, cavalry, missile troops, siege weapons, and specialized units across detailed battlefields. Formation management, terrain, morale, flanking, and unit positioning can determine the outcome of an engagement.

Siege battles have also been expanded with destructible environments. Armies can attack fortified settlements using siege equipment, while defenders can take advantage of walls, towers, streets, and defensive positions to repel invading forces.
